Sustainability at Baba Guru Nanak University (BGNU)
The QEC at Baba Guru Nanak University, Nankana Sahib (BGNU) regarding Sustainability is dedicated to transforming the university into a model of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) engagement. Our mission encompasses fostering SDG-oriented research, creating impactful learning opportunities, establishing strategic external partnerships for a sustainable future, and developing policies that promote responsible operations on campus.
At BGNU, we aim to cultivate a community that not only acknowledges global challenges but actively addresses them. Whether on campus or in our everyday lives, we prioritize environmental, economic, and social issues, integrating them into our designs, inquiries, and actions. Our sustainability initiatives are designed to push boundaries and connect diverse disciplines and perspectives. Most importantly, we emphasize experiential learning, applying our ideas in real-world contexts to effect tangible change.
Objectives
The QEC regarding Sustainability envisions a comprehensive integration of the 17 SDGs into our educational framework through four key channels: Research, Learning, External Engagement, and Responsible Campus Operations.
Aligning Research with SDGs: We aim to ensure that the research conducted at BGNU aligns with the 17 SDGs, thereby enhancing our publication output in these critical areas.
Fostering Social Responsibility: We strive to instil a sense of social responsibility in our students, preparing them to make a positive impact in society and addressing pressing global issues.
Strengthening External Engagement: We seek to collaborate with industries, public sector organizations, and both social and corporate sectors to promote a culture of SDG adoption and implementation.
Refining Campus Operations: We are committed to improving campus operations and policies to ensure equal opportunities for all while promoting responsible resource utilization and sustainable development practices.
Through these initiatives, BGNU aims to create a sustainable future that not only meets the needs of the present but also safeguards the well-being of future generations.
